“I CANNOT RUN AWAY. I CAN ONLY FIGHT!! 💪🔥”

The title 📇 of the May 2024 release ‘Srikanth’ was shown with these lines where a young boy born with a ‘visual disability’ said these words when his father asked him why he didn’t run 🏃 away when he was bullied by one of his classmates.

While watching this movie, I couldn’t help but relate the lead character to the lives of transitioning military leaders who are on a path to join the corporate world.

Srikanth Bolla is the CEO and co-founder of Bollant Industries, a company that produces eco-friendly disposable consumer packaging solutions. If it was not for his mother, he would have been buried alive by his father just after his birth.

While I was reading about Srikanth, I came across many of his statements. I have tried to connect them to the ‘faujis’. Let’s see:

• “Success is not about what you achieve, but how many lives you impact positively 🌟”

For a fauji, success isn't measured by medals 🏅 but by the positive impact he makes on his teams and communities, both during service and beyond.

• “The most important thing in life is not to prove others wrong but to prove yourself right 💯”

A fauji never seeks personal victories. All he desires is to excel in new missions, leveraging his skills to achieve exceptional results always. 🛡️

• “Your limitations are only as limiting as you allow them to be 🚀”

Military instils a 'CAN-DO' attitude in a fauji. He always approaches each obstacle as an opportunity to push boundaries and achieve remarkable results. ✨

• “The only disability in life is a bad attitude. With the right mindset, anything is possible 🧠”

Military service is responsible for the 'NO EXCUSES’ mentality each fauji has. For him, a positive mindset is the key to success. At the same time, he is also aware of the importance of hard work and resourcefulness. 🔧

• “Challenges are not obstacles, but opportunities to discover your true potential 🌟”

For a fauji, every challenge is an opportunity to lead by example. Even after transitioning into corporate (second innings), the journey continues to discover true potential and to inspire others. 💪

• “Believe in yourself, and others will believe in you too 🙌”

Nobody else can understand the power of ‘SELF-BELIEF’ better than a fauji. Throughout the entire military service and even afterwards, a fauji’s confidence inspires trust and motivates all those around him. This helps in creating a foundation for success in any team environment which he is a part of. 🤝

Watching Srikanth was a delight, not only because I was introduced to such an influential individual, but also because knowing more about him gave me perspective on how much military service has given me and has prepared me for the outside world. Superb 🌟🎥

Srikanth Bolla, the first overseas ‘visually disabled’ student at MIT 🎓, also featured in Forbes India in its list of ‘30 under 30’ in 2017. He is now passionately dedicated to empowering others facing similar challenges. Despite life's fated setbacks, he emerged stronger, driven by a strong desire to create opportunities for others. This spirit perfectly matches that of transitioning military leaders who, like Srikanth, are accustomed to overcoming harsh conditions. They too share a deep commitment to serving and empowering fellow veterans navigating the transition to civilian life. 🌟🛡️
